Symbolism

Symbolism means the applied use of symbols: iconic representations that carry particular conventional meanings. In this book of mice and men all the main charters can symbol something and in this essay I will who and what they symbolize to.

First Candy. Candy has several terms of symbolism, for example his disability is a symbol of the migrant workers who are just literally forgotten about, they are forgotten when they are no use to the owners. Candy’s dog is a symbol of a life only for advantage to others Lennie also for shadows this, he is belittled of his mind but enormously commented for his strength. Also he is forced to lie about the fight he had with Curley, this is a symbol of typical male society in the, “Depression era”. Crook has many symbolical items, his disability is a symbol of his loneliness .Curley and Curley’s wife both represent evil both keep down and abuse the migrant workers. Curley especially harasses Lennie because of Lennie’s strength and how enormous he is. This is a symbol of cat and mouse.

In this essay I hope you learned as mush as I did from the following charters in the book such as Candy, Candys dog, Curley, Crook, Curley’s wife, Lennie .

My reflection on service learning

In my Service-Learning group, we are planning to do another sale on ice cream and water ice. We hope it is a big success like it was last couple of times. We are so happy this whole thing was a success so from my group and my self we thank you for participating and im sure the sick kids at C.H.O.P. thank you all to. What I learned for this whole experience is that when you give you will feel good about your self in the end so KEEP ON GIVING!!!!!!!!!!

The motives in the book Mice of Men

Motive means a reason for doing something. Therefore, everyone has a motive unless you are a newborn baby but they have a motive grow-up and be all they can be. In this book Mice of Men each main charter had a motive, and in the essay I will explain what there motive were and what actions they used to try to achieve there motive.

First charter in the book that had a motive was George. George had a motive to raise enough money to buy ancers of land. With that land, they were going to put a farm. George knew that money was not going to grow on trees or fall from the sky. He knew he had to find work to achieve his motive. Therefore, he went to look for work and found a ranch near Soledad, California. All awhile he was not alone .He had a partner.

Which brings me to Lennie .Yah! Lennie had a learning disability and was a little crazy but that did not stop him he knew what his motives where and know how to achieve them .So he work on the ranch with George. Lennies motive was to tend the animals on the farm because he love to pet soft things and he love animals. Coming from someone with his problems you’ll probly think that he wanted the world but no he just wanted to tend some rabbits mainly rabbits at the farm he and George worked so hard and were so eager to get.

Moving on to another charter that seem like she had a motive was very flirtatious and the only women in this book. She goes by the name Curly’s wife. Her motive was to become and actor and get affection from her husband by doing so she often flirted with the works on the farm to make her husband jealous she also would run away to leave curly curious to know where she was and anger that she was gone.

The last charter that had a motive is Cruly. His motive was to become a pro boxer. To accomplish that he often picked on men way bigger a stronger than he was. I guess in the book he had a lesson learn and that was that there is some one always bigger better and smarter than you are.

To sum it all up all the everyone has a motive wither it is owning land like George; tending animals like Lennie; getting affection from mate like Curlys wife or a pro boxer like curly.

Reflection on Service learning

My service learning experience last week was full of fun and more and more ideas to care for the sick kids at chop just as I predicted last week was a ball! We came up with ideas to buy things one the wish list of the children at chop .We came up with doing a fund raiser .The fund raiser consists of selling water ice, ice cream and all the things young adults like me enjoy. So we can help infants and toddlers and young adults that are in need enjoy things that they want and wish for .

NHD reflection

My NHD project I did for this year’s topic, which was Conflict, and Compromise is Misogyny or Myth women in hip-hop. I also did something really surprising I worked with a partner I usually don’t work with anyone cause I am so use to working by my self but it actually turned out to be a good experience. Yes, we disagreed on some thing we had a couple clashes, but we always still got are work done in a way we both agreed on. While doing this project we did things we never imagine doing and meeting people, we never imagine meeting. We did things like interviewed classmates Juju, Christa, Amie, and teacher/Band member Mr. Todd and underground rapper Chief Honcho. In theses interviews we asked a verity of questions and one of the big ones was "what does hip-hop mean to you?" Over all are project was good and done to the best of are ability.

Native Son: Chapter 3 Summary

If only, if only....

Bigger and Gus were imagining what it would be like if they were able to fly an air plane. They imagine flying in the sky and escaping their troubles and fears. They soon realize that what they imagined is only a dream. They realize that they can't fly a plan because of the simple fact that they're black

Continous loop of murders

Murderer Bigger Thomas strikes again after viciously murdering heiress Mary Dalton. The body of a 19 yr old girl, named Bessie was found in an abandoned building. The building in which authorities believe was the hide out of fugitive Bigger Thomas. The medical examiner states that Bessie was hit multiple times in the head with a brick, which was also recovered at the scene of the crime. Bigger Thomas then recklessly tossed her down the air chute .The examiner also confirmed that the blunders to the head weren't the exact cause of death, instead 19 yr old Bessie froze to death. Evidence found at the bottom of the air chute shows that she made many attempts to escape. The medical examiner also states that prior to the struggle she was raped. Bigger Thomas is now in custody facing homicide charges as well as rape. Bigger Thomas is also suspected of murdering two other women during the summer and fall.

brother or sister.

Bloom's Taxonomy ?'s -Application
2. What questions would you ask of Bigger Thomas, if
you had the chance to meet him?
If I had the to meet Bigger Thomas I would ask him:
Why did you try to rape Mary Dalton? & What caused you
so much pain to kill a women who was kind to you?

Bloom's Taxonomy ?'s -Comprehension
3. Who was the key character in the plan Bigger made
after killing Mary?
The key character in Bigger's plan was Jan. Bigger was
planning to frame Jan for Mary's murder.

Bloom's Taxonomy ?'s -Knowledge
4. Describe what happened at the pool house between
Bigger and Gus the second time.
Bigger and Gus got into a fight. Bigger threatened Gus
by putting a knife to his neck. They fought because
Bigger was afraid of robbing Old Blum.

Bloom's Taxonomy ?'s -Evaluation
5. How would you feel if you were in Bigger's
position, a young poor black boy killing a young rich
white women?
If I was in Bigger's position, a young poor black boy
having just killed a young rich white women, I would
have panicked and would most likely have turned myself
in.

Bloom's Taxonomy ?'s -Synthesis
6. Why don't you devise your own way to deal with want
happened in Mary's room, right before Bigger killed
her?
To deal with what happened in Mary's room I would have
told somewhat of the truth, like when Mrs. Dalton came
into the room I would have said "Ma'am, Miss Dalton is
drunk and she wasn't able to came up the stairs on her
own so I helped her to her room," and I would have
dealt with the repercussions.

2.Gray, 25 Dec 2007. "My letter to hip hop." Bridget Gray. 2000. .

From this site I got my poem form for the women struggle part of the project. “I know in the beginning I was down to work my hips, but I was tricked. Seduced by your beat. You had me for three minutes and forty-six seconds I was suspended in time, but when I snapped out of it I had to ask "Did I hear what I thought I did in that last rhyme?" Now forgive me, maybe I'm getting old or maybe I'm just slow, but I didn't even know you could say "bitch" on the radio, yet I was entranced by your beat I heard somewhere before, oh, I remember that was the original score.” This part of the poem I like because It is saying that when she use to dance in theses videos she was just dancing to the beat not listing to what they are saying and calling her and all the other girls that were doing what she was doing.

5 .Kaminski, Katie. "MCing." 2. 01.01.08 .

This web site explained how MCing is the art of rapping. MC stands for ‘master of ceremonies’, and that is exactly what MC’s were. Early rappers were simply there to host the party. In the early days of hip hop the DJ was the main attraction. Hip Hop started when DJ Kool Herc came to New York, from Jamaica in 1970.

6. Kaminski, Katie. "Graffiti." 2. 01.01.08

This web site is talking about how graffiti is a big part of hip hop culture, and though a sharpie scribbled on a subway wall may not be art, many of the ‘graf’ heads that practice graffiti are true artists.
Graffiti has been around for as long as humans can write. The word graffiti comes from the ancient Greek work “graphien”, meaning; to write.

THIS WEB SITE IS TALKIN ABOUT HOW Hip Hop culture first began in a section of New York City called the Bronx in the 1970's. As a marginalized group, ghetto youth didn't have any formal way to express themselves. Hip Hop quickly became a popular genre throughout the United States. As Hip Hop grew in popularity around the world, its audience quickly became pioneers in their own communities.

9.Kitwana, Bakari. "The State of the Hip-Hop Generation: How Hip-Hop’s Cultural Movement is Evolving into Political Power." International Council for Philosophy and Humanistic Studies Vol. 51, No. 32004 1. 01.01.08 .

religion

What if your teacher one day just sat the class down and there was a whole lesson on religion and how you should believe in God but at home you where taught not to believe in God. In my paper I will explain way religion should not be taught in school .

I believe in god but I do not think religion should not be taught in school because god is to be taught in church not in school. In school we should focus on the things that will benefit us in the future. If we cut out time in our school day to focus on religious belifes we will not have time to further our education.

The theory’s that we learn about in school I think are irrelevant to our education. When you think about it in the SAT we are tested on Math, Science, Reading and vocabulary and things of that nature, no where in the SAT are we being tested on religion. No, I do not think religion or any other beliefs should be taught of exocised in school we should only focus on our goals and that’s LEARNING.
